It’s a happy day for the Court 13 and Cinereach team, here at Beasts HQ.
This morning, the nominees for the 85th Annual Academy Awards were announced and we are thrilled and honored to have been included amongst a field of such amazing films and filmmakers.
Beasts of the Southern Wild has been nominated for:
Best Picture
Best Director, Behn Zeitlin
Best Actress, Quvenzhané Wallis
Best Adapted Screenplay, Lucy Alibar & Benh Zeitlin
This recognition would truly not have been possible without the incredible support of our Beasts family. You heeded our call, you told your friends and family about the film; you watched it in cinemas again and again; you facebooked, tweeted, tumbled and shouted about it to anyone who would listen. You showed the world how to Beast it and we can’t thank you enough for that. Congratulations to you and to all the nominees.

Go Hushpuppy! You absolute champion!
Well done team. One of the best movies of all time. You deserve it!
Oh happy day!! I applaud the Beasts cast and crew on the well deserved recognition!! Quvenzhane, sweetie, you shine and are already a winner. Everyone will know (the proper pronunciation of) your name, enjoy your moment!
Anna Karenina… UGGGHHH!
There are so many people doing a happy dance for you! Congratulations to all of you. Everyone at the Kenneth Rainin Foundation is pulling for you.
Now that the film has been nominated for Best Picture, could you guys tell us as soon as you can whether there is a way the film can play in theatres nationwide again right up ahead of the next Oscar telecast?
I have to say that this movie is supreme. I believe it should be among some of the greatest movies of all time.
Quvenzhane’ Wallis is magnificent young actress.
Work of art. Loved it. It will remain one of my favorite films of all time and look forward to more from all of you. This film has all the elements I think great story telling needs to have. Pristine. Bravo!
My friend Katy Foley told me you guys were nominated. I haven’t seen the film yet, but she said she celebrated with you last night, and so I wanted to extend my warmest congratulations! Way to go!
Congrats to all who were involved in this wonderful movie! They did not play it in theaters where I live, but pre-ordered the movie as soon as I could! I teach Pre-K and tragically lost one of my students 2 years ago, but gained an amazing angel. Quvenzhane your look and facial expressions resemble her so much!!! Thank you so much for choosing to do this movie and letting me get to “see my Breanna” through you! I am so proud of this movie and have shared it with everyone I know!
Hooo-rah! Congrats to the nominees and the whole Beasts team!
I missed in in the theaters. Will it be re-relased before the oscars? I really want to see it on the big screen.
I was so surprised that many of the people that live in Louisiana had not seen this wonderful movie. After all, Hushpuppy is from Houma Louisiana, outside of New Orleans where the movie was actually filmed. I saw it back in Ocotber 2012 and have been promoting it on my facebook page, and telling, family friends, and neighbors about this extraordinary movie and awesome cast. I teach at different schools (elementary) and was surprised by the number of people who had never heard of “Beast of the Southern Wild” So get out to see this awesome movie! I saw it twice and purchased the DVD two weeks ago….CONGRATLATIONS “HUSH PUPPY” DIRECTOR and the rest of the CAST. job well done!
Awesome movie! Quvenzhané Wallis is a true diamond in the rough. The plot, the acting,..this movie is definitely a must see!
